Free Fire is an online battle royale game where you battle 50 players simultaneously. This game is typically only available on mobile systems, but this version uses the Gameloop emulator so that you can play on your computer. Unlike other battle royale games where you can only customize a character's design, this game gives each character a unique skill.

Online Battle Royale

There are many battle royale games currently available that follow a similar premise. Free Fire allows up to 50 players to enter a single map at the same time. Each player then fights against each other until only one survives. There are several maps to choose from. The round will start with you and all the other players in a plane. You can choose when to jump and glide down towards the island. This gives you the ability to choose your starting position.

You have to quickly collect weapons, armor and other items to help improve your odds of survival. Not only that, but other players will be collecting these same items, so there's only a limited number of weapons available. You then have to battle other players while being aware of the safe zone.

Like many other battle royale games, there is a continuously shrinking safe zone. It starts off as the whole map, but it will get smaller and smaller as time goes on. This forces players to confront each other. Anyone outside of the safe zone will be damaged and their character will eventually die.

If you've played any other battle royale game, then these rules and mechanics should be similar. While Free Fire does some special things when it comes to characters, the overall mechanics are similar to every other game in this genre.

Characters and Skills

Most battle royale games give you a generic character. You can dress them up, buy and collect different skins and clothes for them and give them unique designs. While they might look unique, no character plays different than any other. Free Fire changes this by giving your characters unique skills.

These are passive skills. That means that the skill is active at all times and you don't need to intentionally activate them. Some characters deal additional explosive damage while others might have increased damage when looking through a scope. While many character have skills the increase a specific type of damage, others have increased defense or can survive longer outside of the safe zone.

On one hand this allows you to choose a character that works best with your play style. This means you can deal additional damage or survive longer without doing anything special. On the other hand, this locks you into a certain character even if you don't like how they look. It's overall a benefit to have different characters, but there are some downsides to consider.

Mobile Emulation

Free Fire is a mobile game made for tablets and smartphones. That might seem a little confusing because this version is made for laptops and desktops. That's because this particular version of Free Fire comes with the Gameloop emulator. There are some significant pros and cons to consider when using this version.

The benefits are that you can use much stronger hardware to play the game. Even the strongest mobile hardware can't compare to a desktop. Not only that, but Free Fire is already optimized for low-power mobile devices, so a computer has a much easier time with the game. This allows you to move faster, reduces the chance of lag and gives you an advantage against other players. Another benefit is that you'll have a much bigger screen to play on.

There is one potential disadvantage as well. Playing on an emulator is technically against Free Fire's rules. Most players get around this without having any issues. At the same time, some players might be banned when the admin team finds out that you're on an emulator. There is a low chance of this occurring, but it's something you should be aware of before investing too much time or money into your account.

Maps

Free Fire currently features three maps that are very large. The first map all players get is Bermuda. This is a large map with industrial zones, beaches, forests and more. This is one of the most popular maps because there are a lot of different zones and items to choose from.

The second map is Purgatory and you unlock it at level five. A canal runs through the center and splits the island in two. The most unique aspect is the various ziplines you can find. This makes it easier to get around the map, but it also makes it easier for other players to sneak up on you.

The final map is Kalahari. Unlike the other maps that are themed around forests and beaches, this is a desert level. There are many unique mountains, temples and other areas to explore as you try to take out the other players.

While some battle royale games have more maps, these maps should be large enough to satisfy most players.

Graphics

The graphics are somewhere in the middle, even by battle royale standards. Battle royale games need to cut some corners in order to have 50 or more players on a map simultaneously. While it would be great to have cutting-edge graphics, that would require far too much processing power. Not only that, but Free Fire was specifically made for devices with weaker hardware.

Free Fire's graphics aren't impressive, but they aren't terrible either. If you like other battle royale games, then the graphics should fit right into what you're used to seeing.

Weapons

Every battle royale game needs a large assortment of weapons. Not only does this allow you to play the game in different ways, but it lets you choose the best weapon for the situation. For example, you can use an assault rifle for mid-range combat or a sniper rifle to pick off players from a distance.

Free Fire gives you plenty of weapons to choose from. There are sniper rifles, assault rifles, pistols, shotguns and more.
